“The Global Economy and How Asia is Faring - Implications for Canadian Exporters”

The global economy is increasingly difficult to read while we experience a sustained slowdown in world trade. Some emerging markets are facing serious challenges resulting in big implications for Canada and Canadian exporters. How is Canada adapting and how are we doing in terms of increasing our “non-resource” based exports?

This is the “Asian Century “and it is imperative for Canadian companies to secure footholds in mega markets such as China. But how have the Asian markets been faring and how has the structure of Canadian exports to the region been changing?  What is the outlook for the Chinese economy as it continues to evolve in an uncertain global environment? How has Hong Kong been impacted and why is it still an important platform?

Join us to hear about the challenges and evolving opportunities for Canadian companies in Asia as we welcome Dr. Andre Downs, Chief Economist to paint the current picture of the global economy and the short and longer term implications for Canadian trade policy and performance.

You will also learn how Hong Kong can be a value added platform as you plan and execute your Asia strategy.
